Frequently Asked Questions

What sort of projects can be made using letterpress?

All sorts of things! Letterpress wedding invitations and save the dates are very popular, as well as business cards, greeting cards and holiday cards. But posters, art prints, coasters, gift tags, and product tags can also be letterpress printed.

Do you offer design services?

We do! We specialize in invitation design, business cards, and other stationery needs. We’d love to help design your project. With a Bachelors in Graphic Design and 10+ years experience, you’ll be in good hands.

What is standard turnaround on a letterpress job?

Typical turnaround is 12 business days. A lot of factors can affect this, but we will always keep you informed if there’s an unexpected hiccup. Turnaround time begins once all files are approved, and DOES NOT include shipping transit times.

If you’re on a tight schedule, please let us know your desired turnaround time when you request your letterpress printing or design project.

Do you offer letterpress printing for
designs that you didn’t create?

Of course! Letterpress printing is our main offering, and we don’t require that we create the artwork. We work with multiple design studios that use us as their printer. We require production-ready files, meaning a vector file with all fonts and strokes outlined. If you have non-vector files, there may be an additional set-up fee.

How do I order letterpress printing?

It all starts with filling out our contact form. You can also reach us via email at hello@saltandpaperpress.com. We’ll respond with an estimate in 1-2 business days, and proceed with your project from there.

Do you have a set price-list?

Each job is unique and custom, so I prefer to quote by job. The price is dependent on the size, paper stock, and quantity. For the smoothest process, please fill out our contact form to request a quote.

What ink colors do you offer for letterpress printing?

We hand-mix any Pantone Uncoated color you want, at no extra cost.

Do you offer foil printing or embossing?

We currently don’t have foil or embossing capabilities, but that doesn’t mean we can’t help! With connections to shops that do offer foil, we always happy to provide referrals and recommendations.

How should I set-up my file for letterpress printing?

We accept Adobe Illustrator, Illustrator PDFs, Adobe InDesign and Affinity Designer files. All strokes should be outlined, and all fonts must be converted to outlines or packaged with your files. Every color should be on its own layer. If you have questions, feel free to reach out.

Can I get some samples?

Of course! We’re always happy to provide samples of our work so you can see the texture and quality first-hand. To request samples, just fill out our contact form.

Can I stop by the studio?

We’d love to show you around our little letterpress studio, and are open to visitors by appointment only. Send us an email and we’ll see what we can do!

Are you hiring?

I am a small, 1-person shop, and unfortunately don’t have the ability to take anyone on currently. Hopefully, I continue growing and that changes in the future!
